    Silver Bullet Dynamic | High-Z 40KΩ (gain)

The Silver Bullet Dynamic | High-Z 40KΩ (with volume control) is a powerful harmonica microphone with a strong rich and full sound. Adapted from an acoustic dynamic element this is a flexible microphone with a really “hot” signal that is fat – packed with full harmonic content and great bass. The mic has perfect mid-sound without treble – with clear intonation and has a wide frequency response. A high fidelity sound that can be used as both a powerful performance harp microphone and a vocal mic – perfect for blues and country singers.

This microphone is high (40KΩ) impedance which is at the mid-upper end of the high-z range and therefore needs to be matched to a high (=/>400KΩ or =/>0.4M Ω) impedance sockets on your amplifier (normally labelled as passive and designed for non-active piezo pickups). The gain control enables you to control volume or manage feedback during performance as well as finding your sweet-spot with rig/amp settings at sound-check to avoid worrying about transient peeks causing clipping distortion. If you like crunch distortion – it also enables you to move the gain above head room to achieve a crunchier sound when used in conjunction with amp settings including a touch or reverb. This allows you to to drive the mic’ and produce a classic “blues” harmonica sound – with a little help from your amp or control the gain for a clear and powerful sound. Dynamic microphones have proven reliability and are ideal for practice or gigging – especially mixed (harp/vocal) performance.

The mic has a double foam and mesh build to avoid breath sound and enhancing vocal-sound quality when pronouncing plosive consonants. However, the mic can be upgraded for greater vocal performance with a separately purchased foam pop-filter/windscreen for effective reduction of wind noise and “popping”. Perfect for outdoor performance. Like all silverfish harp mic’s, the unit can be stand-mounted and fits snugly in most small (fitting a 30mm barrel) microphone holders.

See link for vocal rig including: foam pop-filter/windscreen, enlarged mic case and rubber microphone holder

The microphone’s size and shape provides a durable design which is smaller than a Marine Band and fits neatly in your hand and pocket. It is a perfect size for getting a really good seal for amplified harmonica playing which is much easier than with a larger bullet mic. Another nice detail is the rubber around the head of the mic’ which serves two purposes: firstly it means that the harmonica isn’t going slip out of your hands when they get sweaty (a real issue!); secondly it helps achieve a consistent airtight seal around the harmonica and microphone to get the biggest “tone” you possibly can.

The mic’ is very light in your hand and is easy to hold with a harmonica while performing so you don’t get hand cramp after a long practice or performance. The volume knob is small and very firm which means you are not going to accidentally twist it in the middle of a particularly enthusiastic harmonica solo. The sensitive volume control provides you with excellent control to boost your output or control feedback.
The mic’ connects to a valve or solid state amplifier with a standard 1/4″ (6.3mm) guitar jack-plug socket.

This silverfish harp mic’ is truly an awesome microphone with technology and craftsmanship that delivers a compact design with many of the features a harmonica player wants and needs and is very technique sensitive.
