Silver Bullet Dynamic | Variable Impedance – Low-Z 400Ω or High-Z 40KΩ
The Silver Bullet Dynamic | Low-Z 400Ω or High-Z 40KΩ (with volume control) integrates a impedance transformer allowing switching between low 400Ω and high Z 40KΩ impedance. This greatly increases the power of the microphone (by approx. 20-25dB) and provide you with the flexibility of optimising the output and sound quality of your mic without the need for a line matching transformer. Switchable impedance particularly suits mixed performance of both vocal and harmonica playing. This allows you to select between a high fidelity (sound quality) at 400Ω or a high impedance output (40KΩ) for higher sensitivity and power as well as scope for driving the mic’ to produce crunch distortion effect for your amplified harmonica playing. The gain control also allows you to find the “sweet spot” at high-z with any particular rig / sound settings or at sound check. This is to avoid worrying about transient peeks causing clipping distortion. Alternatively the boost in power enables you to use higher gain at the margins of the microphones head room to achieve a crunchier, distorted sound that can be optimised with a touch or reverb.
The tiny switch and gain knob enable you to take control of the microphones performance and get the most of your rig for amplified harmonica playing. The low-Z dynamic element has a powerful, strong, rich and full sound. Adapted from an acoustic dynamic element this is a flexible microphone with a really “hot” signal that is fat – packed with full harmonic content and great bass. The mic has perfect mid-sound without treble – with clear intonation. A high fidelity sound that can be used as both a powerful performance harp microphone and a vocal mic – perfect for blues and country singers. With high sensitivity this mic has a slightly lower headroom so when switched to high-z in particular, you can turn up the gain to drive the mic’ and produce a classic “blues” harmonica sound – with a little help from your amp. Dynamic microphones have proven reliability and are ideal for practice or gigging – especially mixed (harp/vocal) performance.
The mic has a double foam and mesh build to avoid breath sound and enhancing vocal-sound quality when pronouncing plosive consonants. However, the mic can be upgraded for greater vocal performance with a separately purchased foam pop-filter/windscreen for effective reduction of wind noise and “popping”. Perfect for outdoor performance. Like all silverfish harp mic’s, the unit can be stand-mounted and fits snugly in most small (fitting a 30mm barrel) microphone holders.

The microphone’s size and shape provides a durable design which is smaller than a Marine Band and fits neatly in your hand and pocket. It is a perfect size for getting a really good seal for amplified harmonica playing which is much easier than with a larger bullet mic. Another nice detail is the rubber around the head of the mic’ which serves two purposes: firstly it means that the harmonica isn’t going slip out of your hands when they get sweaty (a real issue!); secondly it helps achieve a consistent airtight seal around the harmonica and microphone to get the biggest “tone” you possibly can.
The mic’ is very light in your hand and is easy to hold with a harmonica while performing so you don’t get hand cramp after a long practice or performance. The volume knob is small and very firm which means you are not going to accidentally twist it in the middle of a particularly enthusiastic harmonica solo. The sensitive volume control provides you with excellent control to boost your output or control feedback.
The mic’ connects to a valve or solid state amplifier with a standard 1/4″ (6.3mm) guitar jack-plug socket.
