Description

Silver Bullet Dynamic | Special II Mini 4K Clean

This is a particularly small ultra-light pocket-sized harp mic that features a rugged heavy-duty all-metal casing, dark hardwood fascia with a small volume control and terminal facing jack-socket. This handmade, artisan harmonica microphone provides a great microphone for the serious harmonica blues player who is looking for a cleaner sound – providing a very small mic that is rich in tone, robust and comfortable to hold for long periods of practice or gigging.

This is a microphone for the harmonica player who is looking for a cleaner sound – providing a mic that is rich in tone with more top end – resulting in crisper higher-end frequencies. The element has the widest frequency response and dynamic range of the Silver Bullets with a slightly lower sensitivity and a higher headroom to distortion compared with the high-z Silver Bullets range. By varying the degree of cupping you can create a range of clean sound effects and by turning up the mic and amplifier gain (with a touch of reverb) you can also introduce a light-touch of distortion. This is in contrast to the heavy crunch sound of the high-z Silver Bullet microphones. These dynamic microphones have proven reliability and are ideal for practice or gigging and especially suits playing cleaner sounding blues, melody, country, funk, reggae, soul or chromatic harmonica. This microphone is medium (4KΩ) impedance which therefore needs to be matched to a high (=/>40KΩ) impedance sockets on your amplifier.

The microphone’s size and shape provides a durable design which is smaller than a Marine Band and fits neatly in your hand. It is a perfect size for getting a really good seal for amplified harmonica playing which is much easier than with a larger bullet mic. A really nice feature of this mic is the inset rubber seal and gnarled ring at the head of the mic’ which serves two purposes: firstly it means that the harmonica isn’t going slip out of your hands when they get sweaty (a real issue!); secondly it helps achieve a consistent airtight seal around the harmonica and microphone to get the biggest “tone” you possibly can. Smaller then the Special II this mic may suit a player with small hands or who prefers a very small and neat mic!

The mic’ is exceptionally light in your hand and is easy to hold with a harmonica while performing so you don’t get hand cramp after a long practice or performance. The volume knob is small and very firm which means you are not going to accidentally twist it in the middle of a particularly enthusiastic harmonica solo. The sensitive volume control provides you with excellent control to boost your output or control feedback or to increase gain for a light distortion effect (at very high gain) or control unwanted feed-back issues. The mic’ connects to a valve or solid-state amplifier with a standard 1/4″ (6.3mm) guitar jack-plug socket.

The microphone is supplied with a hand-crafted leather finish that wraps tightly around the microphone that reflects the artisan craftsmanship of the mic while providing some additional grip, seal and protection. A leatherette pouch is supplied as standard with the option to upgrade to a leather case at a small additional cost.
