Description

Silver Bullet Dynamic | Standard Harp Mic 50K Dirty/Lo-Fi – No Volume Control

The Silver Bullet Dynamic | Standard Harp Mic is modelled after the vintage harp mics and features a rugged heavy-all-metal casing, dark hardwood fascia and chunky terminal volume control with angled base-mounted jack-socket. This handmade, artisan harmonica microphone with a low form-factor provides a great standard for the serious harmonica blues player. This model suits a player who likes to leave complete control of volume to the sound engineer or initial EQ of your amplifier rig or PA. Provided without gain control, this is a powerful, high impedance harp mic that is rich in tone, robust and comfortable to hold for long periods of practice or gigging.

If you play venues with sound engineers that requires a set volume at initial EQ and sound-check then having a mic without a volume control may be your preference. This microphone offers this simple design proving a really “hot” signal that is packed with full harmonic content and great tone with perfect bass and mid-sound without excessive treble. The sound is warm, responds to cupping and pressure changes and breaks up nicely. The 50KΩ offers a very powerful high-z mic with low headroom so if you like crunch distortion and a lovely dirty blues sound this is the microphone to choose. Apply a touch of reverb from your amp, turn up the amp gain to drive the mic’ and achieve various degrees of distorted, crunchy classic “blues” harmonica sound, especially when cupped – providing a powerful and dirty low-fi sound that is rich and fat in tone. If you prefer you can set the PA or amplifier just at the cusp of feedback to obtain maximum tone without concern for accidental volume adjustments that upset the balance and your sound engineer! Mid-performance you have the option to use the “one-click disabling feature” of this mic to quietly disconnect the lead by one click while firmly retaining jack-plug connection until you are ready to play again.

Dynamic microphones have proven reliability and are ideal for practice or gigging – blues and country harmonica performance. This mic’ needs to be matched to a high (500KΩ/0.5MΩ) impedance sockets on your amplifier.

The microphone’s size and shape provides a durable design which is smaller than a Marine Band and fits neatly in your hand. It is a perfect size for getting a really good seal for amplified harmonica playing which is much easier than with a larger bullet mic. A really nice feature of this mic is the inset rubber o-ring seal and gnarled ring at the head of the mic’ which serves two purposes: firstly it means that the harmonica isn’t going slip out of your hands when they get sweaty (a real issue!); secondly it helps achieve a consistent airtight seal around the harmonica and microphone to get the biggest “tone” you possibly can.

The mic’ is exceptionally light in your hand and is easy to hold with a harmonica while performing so you don’t get hand cramp after a long practice or performance. The mic’ connects to a valve or solid-state amplifier with a standard 1/4″ (6.3mm) guitar jack-plug socket.

The microphone is supplied with a hand-crafted leather finish that wraps tightly around the microphone that looks great but also adds some additional grip, seal and protection.

This high impedance dynamic mic’ is top-of-the range in sound, feel and playability.
