Description

SwitchTone (Dirty/Clean dual-element harp mic for versatile tone)

The “SwitchTone” is a handmade, professional-grade harmonica microphone designed for players who would benefit from switching between Chicago Blues to clean tones. Built with rugged all-metal construction, a dark hardwood fascia, compact volume control, and terminal-facing jack socket, it houses two separate dynamic elements—allowing you to switch instantly between gritty high-impedance “dirty” blues tone and crisp “clean” tone at the flip of a brass micro-switch.

This unique dual-element design—likely the only one of its kind—delivers unmatched flexibility for stage and studio. Whether you’re chasing fat, overdriven Chicago crunch or articulate, top-end clarity, the Switchable Bullet Mic has you covered.

Design & Performance Highlights: two mics in one

Dirty-Blues, clean and “switchable” with dirty-blues and clean elements in one mic

Clean Dynamic Element (Medium 30KΩ Impedance)

  • Overall tone – Rich, articulate sound with enhanced top-end clarity with no high frequency roll-off at low-mid gain. Light distorted tone at higher gain

    • At low to mid gain – rich, articulate sound with enhanced top-end clarity with no high frequency roll-off at low-mid gain
    • At high gain  – soft and with clean to very light distorted tones (depending on the amp)
  • Performance – Not as hot i.e. lower sensitivity but with higher headroom — ideal for clean blues, melody, country, funk, reggae, soul, or chromatic harmonic
  • Versatility – Adjust cupping for subtle clean effects, or add gain and reverb for gentle breakup

  • Note: the 30KΩ clean element differs from that used in the MixTone: Clean Bullet Mic which has a slightly more powerful, hotter element.

Dirty-Blues / Lo-Fi Dynamic Element (High 40KΩ Impedance)

  • At low to mid gain – clean moving to rich and warm saturated  Vintage “Chicago Blues” tone great for diatonic harmonica playing.
  • At high gain  – easier to saturate providing increasing grit with maintained warm tones  → lower fidelity, hard harmonic distortion, more compression and “squash” producing a thicker more saturated  Vintage “Chicago Blues” tone.
  • Overall tone – Hot signal with full harmonic overtones, strong bass, warm mids, and smooth treble high frequency roll-off. Slightly brighter “Chicago Blues” tone than the “DirtyTone: Blues Bullet Mic”.

  • Performance – A hot element with lower headroom for authentic dirty-blues distortion—responsive to cupping and pressure for gritty, low-fi Chicago blues tone

Ergonomic & Performance-Ready

  • Compact size – smaller than a Marine Band harmonica for easy airtight cupping

  • Rubber O-ring and knurled head ring – secure grip, even with sweaty hands

  • Firm volume knob – prevents accidental changes mid-performance

  • Near-silent switching – small brass micro-switch for clean/dirty element changes

  • Shock-mount design – reduces handling noise

  • Two-stage mesh & foam – minimizes breath noise for cleaner amplification

  • Compatibility: Best with high-impedance amp inputs (≥500KΩ / 0.5MΩ)
